In 2006 S3connect was used in the Department of Petroleum Engineering at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh to help with research into field production optimization. The results of this work were published in 2007.
In 2010 Sciencesoft worked with the Mechanical Engineering and the Computer Science Departments at Glasgow University on short-term research projects as part of the University’s First Step Award Scheme which encourages collaboration between the University and Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
In the last five years Sciencesoft has granted over 10 summer students from Strathclyde and Glasgow Universities valuable summer work experience in its intern programme. The undergraduates came from a range of departments, including Computer Science, Physics and Astronomy. Under the intern scheme the students worked for several weeks on a variety of training, software testing and development projects, giving them valuable experience of working in a commercial environment.
In 2011, following a request from the Computer Science Department at Glasgow University, Sciencesoft agreed to be the industrial sponsor of a PhD studentship in Computer Science. The project involves research into advanced 3D visualisation and the student will spend part of the time working within the Sciencesoft R&D group.
